Shark Tanks? Better Know What You Are Doing

shark tank

Found a really important post by Jason on the Cephalopodcast about people that insist on having shark tanks while knowing almost nothing about them.

If you do want to have a shark tank make sure you know the price, the needs and the conditions that the sharks needs in captivity.

Shark don’t make a very good pet and sure it is something to brag about but not really an aquarium friendly pet.

I can join Jason recommendation on the book Aquarium Sharks and Rays to educated yourself if you decide to have a shark tank after all.

I’ve seen very few shark tanks but none of them lasted for a very long time, the cost of the sharks, the costs of the food and just the sharks habits of panicking and banging his head on the glass.

The Size Doesn’t Matter - Nano Reefs Can Work Too

Usually reef tanks are big, sometimes very big but I’m starting to see very mall reef tanks from time to time and they function surprisingly well.

The last interesting story that I read is from the Sea Creatures and me blog.

Being fond of small tanks he decided to create a mini reef tank step by step trying to keep the rocks alive and the whole process is rather interesting so if you want to make a little experiment of your own you might want to learn for his experience.

Am I The Only One?

I don’t know if everyone is effected the same way or is it just me. Whenever I read about something new and unique that someone else has done with their reef tank I start thinking about it myself.

It usually ends by checking lots of new options and choosing the one that is most suitable for my tank, but it is that even if I’m pleased with the tank that I worked hard to create, new ideas, new options and new suggestions always awaken the urge for a change.

This time it was reading about a porcelain crab fitting in a really small reef tank. Check here for the original post.

I can’t say if it is my sense for adventure and the desire to try new things or the basic consumerism that messes with my head.
